All Laced Up by Erin Fletcher

I have been reading some good books this year, so I thought I would try to review a few here even if this blog is just for me.

All Laced Up was one of the cutest books I have read this year. It was a cross between Ice Princess and A Cinderella Story.

The book was about an ice skater and a hockey player slowly….well, I do not really want to give anything away.

One of the reasons why I liked this book so much was because of the quotes. They were realistic for a young adult book and they actually related to life.

“But the difference between everyone and the greats is that the greats know how to fight. Despite the circumstances, despite the pressure, despite whatever is going on, they fight. I think you have to fight for what you want.”

There were a few others that I liked, but again, I do not want to give the book away.

I thought this book was good because a girl actually knew about hockey and she never backed down from what she thought about the popular guy protagonist. She never acted like a witch, she just was honest about her feelings. They did not immediately jump into a relationship either, the plot had you guessing the whole book, even though it had me suspicious until the last few chapters.

I could also relate to the book because it took place in Michigan and I grew up there and understand how big hockey is there; especially the Detroit Red Wings team. It was nice being able to imagine my old home life in a way, even if it was not exactly the same.

It was a little predictable, but I still think that it was well written and it is perfect for readers that are looking for new authors similar to Kasie West, Sarah Dessen and Meg Cabot.

It deserves five aww worthy stars from me.
