I received Just One of the Boys by Leaving Rooper and the other author from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve always been fascinated by ice skating or hockey stories. I don’t know why, but whenever the two are in a story I am all for the story.
Just One of the Boys was pretty much a perfect read for me. I tried to find at least one thing I did not like in the story, but I don’t think there was one thing.
Alice and her brother tried out for the Chicago Falcons, a junior league team. Alice made it at first, but then her coach realized she was a girl and made her brother be the one who had the spot instead. Something happened to her brother and she ended up pretending to be him so he would still have his spot on the the team when he got back.
Alice actually was adorably convincing at playing her brother. I thought that part of the story was actually well written even though it was awkward for her at times. And the story leading up to the end was so good. I don’t want to spoil anything else by giving away too much of the story.
It was definitely a five star read. I even wouldn’t mind having an actual paperback version of this book! I’d recommend this to anybody who likes cute, fluffy hockey stories.
